How I work

I have many years with computers, and a strong desire to make things right so everyone can use them with ease and comfort.

I work on what you want built. I will also analyze what you already have, or give you an opinion on your website or your program, and tell you plainly what I find.

Bug work has its own shape. I take confirmed, reproducible bugs at a fixed price agreed before I start. The deliverable is a pull request with a passing test and a written explanation of what was actually wrong. If a bug is not reproducible yet, I will say so before you pay me anything.

Since March 1st I have tested myself by building several servers, running DirectAdmin, and much more. I have built many things myself, including Helix.

Reach out if you have an idea or anything to build. We can discuss it and see if I am able to build it.

Merged into other people's code

Pull requests merged into Nimbalyst, an Electron and TypeScript desktop application. Each one closes a reported issue. The work covered React state handling, session list rendering, spellchecker configuration and IPC documentation.

Built and running

Things you can open right now.

AntGlow GIF Studio Live

Turns a video into a GIF in the browser. It solves for a size limit rather than making you guess at one, so the file you get is the file that will actually upload.

AntGlow Status Live

A public status page for the AntGlow services, checked on a schedule and served from the edge.

Whisper Paws Live

A pet care business I ran for over ten years, first in Toronto and then in London. I designed, built and maintained the site. Most new clients arrived through search rather than paid advertising.

Coming

Being built now. No sign-up, nothing to buy yet.

AntGlow In build

A website you build yourself and actually own. You can leave with it.

My Turn In build

A live caption overlay for people who type instead of speak. Your words go up on the screen as you write them, so a hearing room can follow you in real time.

More In build

Several other products are in progress. They get listed here when they run, not when they are planned.

Demos

Small pieces built to show a technique, and tools I am testing in the open.

Boot sequence. Staged async timing, live timestamps, CRT treatment, no images. Open full size
My Turn Demo Beta

You type on your phone and your finished sentence appears over your video, large enough to read. It is built for Deaf and hard of hearing people, and for anyone who would rather be read than heard. It works alongside Zoom, Meet, Teams, Discord and OBS.

It is free while it is in beta. It sits here as a demo rather than on its own domain because I want to know whether people actually use it before I give it one. Open My Turn.

Helix AI chat Live on this page

A chat agent I built and named. It knows one subject and nothing else. It runs outside the systems it answers about, so it cannot disclose them, and every reply is checked against a forbidden-term list before it reaches the reader. It tells you it is an AI. It does not pretend otherwise.

The one on this page knows my work: what I have built, what I can build, and how long I have been doing this. It is in the bottom right corner. Ask it anything, or read the full history on my LinkedIn.
